May 2, Landing in Torrey at Pennys, Artist Nancy Green in Capitol Reef Park

Waking up, looking out the window into this breathtaking landscape, is a present. And I feel so happy, lucky that it is possible. Breakfast at the round table in Penny’s tasteful home, with art, special objects and stories everywhere. Waffles made with ricotta, buttermilk and a whipped eggwhite, light and elegant, with strawberries, kiwis, maple syrup, almond slivers and a few sausages just to counteract the sweetness. What a scrumptous way to start the day!

Kathi had made an appointment with a wonderful artist, Nancy Green. Nancy works with many different techniques, amongst others "cold wax", that gives her paintings so much depth and texture. http://www.ngreenstudios.com/paintings/colorado-plateau-series/
Nancy showed us her finished works, her experiments, her materials, tools, taked about pros and cons with different inks and paints. She was absolutely genuine, helpful and inspirational. We did not buy anything (YET!) I was very interested in her cold wax technique, For our creative friends, here is a link to the technique, tht gives many possibilities for texture, layers, and depth in paintings. http://www.coldwaxpainting.com/coldwax.html.

We commented on Nancys beautiful "pink stucco" house, and we were invited inside. A beautiful house designed by Nancy and her husband, now semi retired from career jobs in Cailifornia. Kathi was inspired by their kitchen and thoughts sent to their coming kitchen project in Vancouver. We were full og colour, art and inspiration, as we walked back into the world with new eyes. Thank you Nancy!

We drove back to the little town of Torrey, where Nancy and four others have a co-op gallery.
http://www.gallery24.biz/  There was some beautiful work from the  artistic partners, and also wonderful work from other artists. We drooled, and I gave Kathi a book from Guy Tal:
http://guytalbooks.com/catalog_show_ebook.php?bid=12   He writes about his book: "More Than a Rock is a passionate and personal book about creativity and expression".  We look forward to those creative juices exploding.

Full of wonderful art, we drove to  Gooseneck lookout across from the Chimney. Two short walks, and we found our picnic spot, overlooking the two goosenecks in the river many meters below.

After a leisurely lunch, full of admiration for the geology, cliffs, rivers, colours, views, we headed back to our B and B for a relaxing afternoon with reading, and painting.

Dinner out at an excellent restaurant in Torrey, Barbeque ribs, corn, beans, salad, and corn bread with honey - new to me. I had my Margarita to top it off, Yummy!

Wonderful porch at our B and B, afternoon sun, no wind, and a glas with ...?
We rolled home to our wonderful B and B and made reservations for dinner on Wednesday. Have to keep on top of things, eh?

An easy day, loading up for more adventures.
